Vogue Tried To Tell Us Shorts Are "Cool Again"

But honestly, when was shorts ever "out"? Everyone has, at least once, wear shorts at some point in their life whether it is a runway trend or not(unless you live in Antarctica, of course) We've realized that pairing shorts with tights look alright and even wear them in the cold winter days. Even that was back in the 70's, but Vogue gave all the credit to only British gals. What about us New York gals? And all the girls that don't live in London and have been wearing shorts since forever? I love Anna Wintour and Vogue US, but check your facts gurl! Don't base all your facts on the runway and celebrities. The street style trends in the past 10 years could prove half your article wrong. And, quoting you, "so annoying."

From left to right → Unknown model, Stockholm Streetstyle(2, 4, 5) and Street Peeper. These gurls sure are doing it right, accessorizing their shorts with interesting tops and shoes. My favourites are the girl in the middle and the one on the far right. The first one is keeping it minimal, while the other's all out there. A bit too clashy for my taste, only if she took of that oversize jacket.

Not Coachella-Inspired So Can I Have A Cookie?

Now that Coachella is finally over, I can finally stop being miserable over Instagram pics of flamingos and posts about what a great time you were having. Thanks to New York's bipolar weather and my allergies, I couldn't even humor myself by dressing up Coachella-style(And yes, I'm desperate enough to read those Coachella style posts which are practically the same every year) Since I don't have any Instagram photos of $15 iced lemon teas to show you, I might as well as tell you that I've been spending time making gifs of my favourite movies honing my aesthetic and journaling. Just another rambling post.

Omigod, Your Glasses Are So Retro!

When I first started wearing glasses(not because I go on LiveJournal too much but because I liked to read books like Can You Hear Me, God? Is Me, Margaret in the dark. Welcome to the 21st Century, where people obviously don't have things like electricity!) I actually kind of liked it because it had these chunky, plastic frames. I hate contacts or fancy-nancy D&G frames, but I like glasses shaped like hexagons. Ironically, retro (sun)glasses are suddenly all at rage again. I'm sorry I used "all at rage" but there's no other expressions. It all started at the fall 2011 collection of Givenchy, with all its panther sweatshirts, orchid prints and cat-eye glasses. And there's Prada spring 2012: Americana-inspired mid-length dresses with plenty of attitude.

First up are these round, oversize frames from Prism that almost every Japanese girl I know wears. 60's-inspired frames are even better, which are what these chunky Prada babies are for. I don't talk like that in real-life but whatevah this is da ~ INteRNet ~ The original Givenchy glasses were already sold out but if you, like me, don't have an unlimited bank account probably won't blow invest $500 on glasses. For more affordable option(s), these sunglasses with gemstones from Girl Props with probably do the trick. Last but not least, I also really like the chunky, patterned frames from Miu Miu and cat-eye frames of Cutler and Gross.

Song Titles Are Complicated!

I've been watching a lot of movies and revisiting old music videos lately. It feels weird because my music taste from 5 years ago is completely different and all the songs I used to be obsessed over are now completely meaningless to me. Also kind of creepy, if you know what I mean, because it's like finding your childhood best friend 20 years later to find that she had completely changed.

This short film, called "Lost and Found," is one of the best 10 minutes I had ever spend in my life. It's about this boy founding a penguin on his doorstep and decided to help him find his way him. So he build a boat and decided to row to the South Pole. I don't really know how he made the trip in 2 days but this is adapted from a children's book and everything from children's books are legitimate. The middle of the film literally scared the shit out of me because I thought they were going to die in the ocean.

Reverse Ombre, Y'all

People with pretty hair get away with everything. Even if you're screaming at them the conversation always turned into something like "OMG YOUR HAIR IS SOOO PRE-TTYYYY." It's just like some universal rule whenever this reverse ombre thing pop up on Tumblr or Pinterest or whatever technology these days, that I just think of how people with reverse ombre would get away with everything. An ombre would always be just an ombre, but when it's reverse it's still an ombre but even better. Unless you do a reverse ombre in 5 Manic Panic/Special Effects shades, then you should just be given the most amazing person on Earth award and have a monument built with Oreos and Nutella and bacon in your honor.

Ladies and gentlemen, the reverse ombre.  photo source: theory, minimaliste
